In 2004, in preparation for the 25th Anniversary of the 1980 coup d’etat and execution, the families of the thirteen deceased government officials who were executed on South Beach, as well the family of President William R. Tolbert, Jr., the families of other esteemed Liberian patriots, and supporters comprise the membership of the April 22nd Memorial Group (A22MG).
We are a coalition that recognizes ALL Liberians who lost their lives unjustly during the past years since the coup, and pay homage to these heroes who played a very significant role in shaping the history of Liberia.
We are people who have come together bound by grief and an underlying love for Liberia, who are determined to turn their pain into purpose.
